Building Systems founder, George Stone, moved to Hagerstown, MD in 1979 to escape the rat race of commercial construction in the District of Columbia. He founded Building Systems in 1983 to fulfill a need for high-quality commercial construction in Maryland, Southern Pennsylvania, and Eastern West Virginia. George’s broad skill set allowed him to diversify his services for steady growth over the next 36 years.

By specializing in three separate services, we’ve been able to grow at a steady and stable rate during fluctuating economies. Smart planning and a dedicated team with low turnover allow us to pursue the projects that best meet our strengths. From medical facilities to historic stone arch bridges, we stand behind our work and have the history to back it up.
A New Partnership Supports Our Future.
We partnered with Virginia commercial contractor, Lantz Construction, in 2018. This partnership allows for a seamless transition in ownership from the founder, George Stone, to the team at Building Systems and Lantz Construction through an employee stock ownership program. Similar values and services make this partnership an ideal arrangement to support our future.
